It had been a long time coming for us to make a casual trip to Sioux Falls. As we dont travel much these days, it was a big deal! But, Fred had wanted to see some art galleries so off we go! We enjoyed it. He got really tired, but we did manage to get back to Yankton after a picture drop off in Parker at Twigs and Treasures (more on that later) Here are a couple pics from the exhibits. They had one room with a temporary showing of Sioux Falls area artists (my favorite), much variety. Also other more known artists. I believe there were 7 galleries open in all. It is a big place. Aside from the art, we learned how to prepay (by card) for your parking lot, and you need a card to buy a donut and drink. Strangely, you could still enter the main facility with cash. We had fun and ended the day by going to sleep super early last night.

Just wow- worth the drive. Also got an unexpected private tour from Lauren Freese, assoc Professor of art history chair and brief visit with Bruce Kelley, Dean of Fine Arts. What a treat to see the work and visit with these people. It was a slow day before the school year kicks in in a couple weeks so we got some private time. What a great morning!

So, I just decided to practice some brush strokes on a black piece of construction paper, and look what came out! I rather like it. Especially with the avacado frame.

So, this is meant to be funny. I spent considerable time putting together a pasta dish for lunch, which I shared with Fred. When I looked down, it made me think of the famous artwork by Edvard Munch, " The scream".

Do you sometimes see art in things that other people may have missed?

Happy 4th of July!

Friday evening, July 4th, Riverside park will be full of activity. Music, fireworks and hundreds of people will be there Celebrating our Nation's birth as well as time with friends and family.

But this picture of the bridge was July 4, 2020. Due to the covid pandemic , there were no fireworks, no crowds and little human contact. A sad time in our nation.

I try to look for where the glimmer of hope is or could be, so thought since we can't have fireworks, let's brighten the bridge with balloons! I then asked Todd Larson, Yankton Parks and City activities director, if I could put up some balloons by the bridge, which he agreed to. I then proceded to do so, and hopefully spread a little sunshine with a few smiles during this dark season. Thankful to be past that era.

Tommorrow night once again will bring forth the sounds and sights of freedom. Yankton always puts on a fantastic fireworks show. Thankful to have "Normal" back again. Time to Celebrate!
