I began to explore the visual arts at the tender age of 65. Prior to becoming a visual artist, my mode of expression was performing art – singing and playing various instruments. A turn in my health took that away from me, but also led me to balloon art and, eventually, to the art in acrylics and other media that are now my creative avenue of expression. I am currently enjoying painting, with acrylics on canvas, pictures that are somewhat realistic, with an impressionistic vent. I explore abstracts as well. My first projects involving paint were acrylic ‘pour-and-pull-throughs’. Recently, I have been expanding my artistic experiments by trying some watercolor and drawing, as well. Always an adventure!
I am also intrigued by artists who seem to send light right out from their paintings. These have been inspiration for me, in projecting the illusion of light, in some of my paintings. Painting has brought value and depth to my life, I never knew was there – and seeing things in “a different light”.
